Features:

Patterns of sunlight filtered through the leaves make different patterns on the floors and walls, lighting up the spaces with enthusiastic elemental presence.

Design Brief:

Existing walls for a two-bedroom unit were renovated to make an office cum residence that provides abundant light and work spaces in the day including a tiny work space for a child, and turns into a full residence in the evening!

Design Intervention:

The idea was to be actively present with our first born and not leave her while we go out to work. This could be done only if we have the living and work spaces together, and yet neither must leave its traces after use. All this, in an 80 sq m space. Abundant light and good cross ventilation were our non-negotiables. We started by redefining our understanding of living, parenthood and our aspirations for work. And then we used every square cm of the space, with fluidity of movement, to fulfil our needs with beauty and grace.

Our take away:

A lot of attention to function and detail as well as including element of light and beauty can turn all limitations into possibilities unforeseen! We lived in this space for more than a decade before moving out and using this solely as PATH office.
